Tablets and mobile computers play an important role in the Auto ID sector, and today it is rather hard to imagine working without these devices. The idea of a tablet, which is a portable device with a medium-sized touchscreen (usually 7-12 inches) that is something between a smartphone and a laptop, has been with us longer than it may seem. Back in the 19th century, the idea of transmitting as an electromagnetic pulse handwriting, using a stylus, was conceived. The concept was developed over the following years. The next milestone turned out to be obtaining a patent in 1942 for a touchscreen. It wasn't until the second half, and the end of the 20th century, that a breakthrough was made and there was real competition among hardware manufacturers to bring their own tablet to market. Brands such as IBM, Microsoft and Apple have contributed their share to the development of this segment of devices. The year 2010 came and a real revolution, for the iPad appeared and became a permanent fixture in the hearts of consumers. The following years saw the popularization of this mobile equipment, a rash of Windows and Android tablets, increasing capabilities and retrofitting with various components and peripherals.
And with that we come to the moment when the tablet is used as a device for professional tasks. It was only a matter of time when it would move from home couches and office armchairs to more demanding environments. Tablets and mobile computers are ideally suited for industry, warehousing and logistics, contributing to operational efficiency, resource monitoring and process improvement. So no matter if it's a large-scale warehouse, logistics center, hospital or field work, tablets with their versatility and mobility, combined with shock and weather resistance, have become devices that are hard to do without in a company.
We present to you several devices from the Zebra Technologies lineup that are designed to meet the needs of the most demanding users and have an impact on better productivity and business process management. We recommend tablets from Zebra Technologies ET6X series. These extremely functional and versatile devices are ideal for most tasks in warehousing, logistics, industrial or commercial sectors. They will prove useful in taking inventory, receiving and issuing goods, checking prices and controlling the production process. The ET6X tablets are IP66-certified, which means they are dust- and water-resistant and can withstand drops from 1.5 meters onto concrete. In addition, they are equipped with Corning Gorilla glass, which will ensure that users don't have to worry about breaking or scratching the screen and scanner glass. The use of such protections makes the tablets an excellent choice for workplaces with extreme conditions. The 10.1-inch display with 1000 nits brightness and high resolution provides a clear and bright image, regardless of lighting conditions. The tablets are ideal for mounting in vehicles. They are also equipped with a range of available-to-order features and accessories that make everyday use much easier, including a reinforced on-board docking station, a keyboard and an optional heated touchpad (ET60 only). A new much faster 2.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm processor allows for seamless support of 5G (ET65 model) and Wi-Fi 6E networks. With a 16-megapixel built-in camera, barcode capture is possible. However, for more advanced needs, the manufacturer suggests using an optional SE55 module with an impressive scanning range of up to 12 meters.
We also recommend the Zebra ET5X family of tablets. Models labeled ET51 and ET56 are designed for the most demanding tasks. They are great for field work, but thanks to their versatility they can also replace office desktops (we recommend Zebra Technologies charging and docking solutions). They are also compatible with vehicle charging stations, allowing use in forklifts and delivery vehicles. The ET5X series devices provide resistance to heavy dust, spills, extreme temperatures (-20°C to 50°C), rain and snow, as well as drops from a height of 1 meter (1.8 m. with an optional protective frame). Gorilla glass, in turn, guarantees scratch and crack resistance. Both the ET51 and ET56 come in two screen diagonal variants: 8.4 and 10.1 inches. No matter which of the proposals you decide on, you will get a display with excellent resolution and high brightness, which provides sensational readability and precision input (the screen can also be operated with a gloved hand or using a passive stylus). Operation of the devices is intuitive and extremely easy, all thanks to the systems they are equipped with. We can choose between two very well-known software: Windows and Android. Both systems guarantee great functionality and ease of use.
The TC73 and TC78 mobile computers are also worth considering. These devices distingiush themselves with an eye-catching design and exceptional functionality. The reinforced design is made to withstand the toughest tests - falls, shocks, flooding with water or extreme temperatures. The manufacturer's declared IP65 and IP68 waterproof rating gives enough protection to use it in harsh conditions without fear of damage. In addition, the six-inch full HD display and imager glass are protected by Corning Gorilla glass. These extremely functional and versatile mobile computers will find their way into most warehouse, logistics, industrial or commercial sector tasks. They will prove useful in inventory taking, receiving and issuing goods, checking prices and controlling the production process. Performance is guaranteed by an octa-core Qualcomm 6490 processor, which provides 90% more computing power, a 400% faster graphics processor and six times more accurate localization than the previous generation of Zebra mobile computers. The TC73 and TC78 can be equipped with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Flash memory, while the MicroSD slot supports 2TB cards. The devices have a number of modules that provide wireless communication capabilities: Bluetooth 5.2, BLE, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E. In addition, the TC78 has 5G cellular connectivity (1 nano-SIM slot and 1 eSIM slot). The scanning module can be selected according to user preference. The manufacturer offers the SE4770 1D/2D scanner, which provides a standard scanning range of up to 60 cm, and the SE55 1D/2D module with IntelliFocus technology with extended range, which can register barcodes on objects held in the hand and up to 12.2 m away. The TC72 and TC77 are equipped with two high-end cameras, 16 MP on the back and 8 MP on the front of the device, guaranteeing detailed images as well as video.
