Innovative postal franking company deploys Bixolon label printers as part of an All-In-One hybrid solution.
Frama Nederland is a market leader in franking machines and develops technologies for efficient mail processing. It is a subsidiary of Frama AG in Switzerland, which was founded in 1972 and manufactures and supplies franking equipment for companies. Frama conducts its business in such a way as to respond to customer needs, thanks to which it has specialized in the field of solutions for processing shipments. It offers a platform for small and medium businesses that allows you to send mail of any size, from letters, bulk mail, parcels, to certified emails. It tries to diversify its offer according to modern standards, in which the franking machine is one of the elements of the All-In-One system.
Challenge
Frama Nederland has focused on being the optimal link between the sender and the recipient in order to significantly facilitate the shipping process. After noting a decline in letter shipments since 2008, Frama was looking for an effective solution for a postal system that could operate alongside the already existing franking mechanism and adapt to the changing market situation.
The main goal was to create a hybrid, easy-to-use solution for handling mail and parcels, which includes, among other things, the possibility of renting equipment to the customer for self-printing. The recipe would be to provide a range of services to easily send letters, parcels and bulk mail online and print labels that can later be directly added to the letter or parcel.
Solution
After testing a range of label printers, Frama opted for the SLP-DX420EG, a 4-inch desktop printer. The device was selected for its advanced features and affordable price. The printer works in conjunction with the MijnFrama platform, which supports the ZPL programming language and is launched via a web browser. This easy-to-use solution allows customers to connect a Bixolon printer via USB or LAN to a computer for easy label printing.
Results
The MijnFrama hybrid platform idea has already been successfully developed and has 165 devices across the Netherlands. It provides customers with great flexibility by offering not only franking machines but also printers in conjunction with the MijnFrama online shipping platform. The solution is used not only for printing shipping labels, but also for sending automated, certified e-mails and digital document workflows.
The flexibility of the equipment allowed Frama to implement the Bixolon label printer rental system at its customers. When you order a printer, it comes with instructions for connecting to your chosen computer. The online platform allows you to monitor whether the user is using the printer and provides additional support if needed.
A hybrid solution based on e.g. o advanced printers Bixolon SLP-DX420EG has been supporting customers since January 2021. The postal company PostNL has removed old barcoded post books from circulation. The solution is to provide customers with simpler and faster alternatives to postal shipments. Shipping labels contain both addresses and information in the form of a barcode, enabling the customer to create one label to stick to the shipment. This has led to more companies turning to the MijnFrama platform and discovering its great potential.
