NEYE is a Danish retail chain that deals in clothing since its’ establishment in 1881. It consists of 42 stores and an online store with its’ heartquarters located in Denmark. This retail chain sells bags, backpacks, suitcases, and accessories from established international and domestic brands. Its’ employee base of 350 people is famous for selling the largest and best assortment of bags and accessories in the fashion, recreation, and travel industry.
With charity as the foremost goal of the company, all of NEYE’s profits are donated to good causes. The NEYE foundation has been donating its’ yearly bottom line to cancer research since 1977. In just the last 5 years, they donated fifty million Danish crowns, and their motto is „Bags with a purpose”. All NEYE employees have the goal of managing the stores with the purpose of bringing profits that can be used for research.
The challenge
In order to generate the highest profits for charitable purposes, NEYE focuses on managing its’ operations and efficient handling of daily operations. The company emphasizes that employees are to be able to understand their client, help them create a good experience, and leave them with a positive impression. NEYE believes, that the better a client feels, the more they would be willing to buy, bringing more profit and in that more money that can be given to research.
The company needed a mobile IT solultion, which can be integrated into an existing ERP system. The purpose of the change was to provide employees with a variety of features, including real time resource management, product administration and price labeling while working in a production hall, in order to improve client service and improve efficiency.
The solution
The NEYE chain uses resolved to use the BIXOLON SPP-R200IIIIBK/BEG i SRP-R200IIIPLUSIK mobile printers for printing labels with barcodes, connected via bluetooth with a mobile pc terminal running Windows CE6.0. Price labels and warehouse documents are generated via the Deli MobileForce software. The solution grants employees to have greater flexibility in everyday work, which lets them be less dependent on cash registers or the office space, which lets them spend more time serving clients.
The results
Handheld terminals and label printers alike are now fully integrated with NEYE’s ERP system, thanks to which all essential information is available to personnel directly on in-store devices. Employees can give clients information about product in stock in real time, without having to check it in the office or at the warehouse. It led to employees having more time to spend with clients and better time management, leading to more efficient work.
In order to provide an optimal review during the day, the NEYE team uses mobile BIXOLON printers, to have a simple way of scanning a given item using a portable terminal and print the correct price label, which allows stores to perform day-to-day operation of labeling. Employees are well aware, where the price comes from as opposed to with other methods, where usually all new labels are printed at ones, often in one large pile and as an effect cause problems with attribution.
“The strength of the store is that personnel can conduct price marketing to suit the clients’ needs and print labels on the spot instead of printing it all at once in a large, hard to organize pile.” - so describes Bent Panduro.
The mobile terminal is also used for price marketing, creating item lists and status preview, another step is the receipt of goods.
„Aside from daily price marking and product listing, we also use the terminals for taking inventory once a year in all of our stores. The final step is to provide a receipt and that task is also performed using the mobile devices” - sums up Bent Panduro.
